About Me

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist, Autism Consultant, and Parent Coach working in private practice in the greater Mount Pearl/St. John’s area in Newfoundland and Labrador.

I grew up in Paradise, NL, and fell in love with communication and language while taking a Linguistics course during high school. In 2004, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Memorial University with a major in Linguistics and minor in Psychology. I remained at Memorial to complete a Master of Arts degree (2009) in Linguistics.  In 2011, I graduated from the University of Maine with a Master of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Upon graduation, I began working as an Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) home therapist with a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from 2012-2014. During this time, I developed a strong passion for working in the area of ASD and learned the impact (and beauty) of creating a strong attachment relationship between a therapist and a child.  This is also when I discovered how gratifying and beneficial it is to work directly with the parents and caregivers of a child with communication needs.

In 2013, I began working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in private practice in Mount Pearl/St. John’s and surrounding areas.  As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I work with children who have a variety of communication disorders using a relationship-first approach to therapy, but I continue to have a special fondness for and interest in working with children with ASD and their families.

I have a keen interest in child development and I am endlessly fascinated by the interwoven nature of emotion, attachment, language, play, and development.  I use the knowledge I have gained from continuing education courses to aid me in both intervention and in coaching and consulting parents and families.  I am trained in administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, second edition (ADOS-2) and I am excited to have joined a multidisciplinary diagnostic team at Mindful Matters Counselling and Psychological Services, Inc. to assist in providing ASD diagnostic services.

When I am not working, I love to play the role of adoring aunt, read books, watch scary movies, do yoga, run, meditate, and hang out at home with my husband, Adam, and my two dogs, Lola and Arffee.
